April 04 Going from bad to worseI sometimes feel we're on the Titanic. Just when you think everything is going fine here comes that ice burg. As you can tell by the date of this entry I didn't jump right to it to let you know where we stood as far as our weight went. Here it is. I gained one pound and Glenda two. Glenda was shocked but not surprised if that makes any sense. She realizes she didn't do everything she could and expected to brake even on her weight. I expected to brake even and gained one. Not terrible but still a pound gained is a pound gained. All we can say is we are only human. We just need to try harder. Take care. Phil and Glenda. March 26 Oh OhHello everyone. Glenda and I had too much Easter cheer. We had too much food for Easter dinner and then went back for seconds. So the tally for our sinful ways goes as is. Glenda gained two pounds and I barely broke even. My current weight remains 270lbs and Glenda jumped back into the 50's. She currently weighs 250lbs. We are kinda bumbed but aren't giving up. We just lost our focus. Tomorrow is another day. Good luck to you all and we hope you're doing well. Take care Phil and Glenda. March 20 Phils on FIRE!Hey guys. I don't know what the heck is going on but look what is happening now. I lost 6 pounds this weigh in and Glenda unfortunately gained 2.
She is a little bumbed but not overly so. She is taking it like it's a little bump on the road to good health. That's my girl. Me I feel so great and I am looking forward to losing more and more. Glenda and I can see the results and it is fun for us. Our clothes are getting too big. We actually started wearing clothes we never thought we could get into. They're from the seventies but hey we still look groovey man. Just joking. Anyway we are over the worse part of our colds and getting stronger every day. Hope you all are in good health and thanks so much for your continuing support and encouraging words. Take care. Phil and Glenda.
Keep punching away at the pounds. March 12 Glenda is on FIRE!I am so proud of Glenda. This week she scored a record seven pound loss. WOW! She was so happy she was full of excitement. Me well not so good. I don't know what happened but I gained one pound. Glenda and I have both been battling this darn flue bug again for the second time. It wont let go of its hold on us. How she lost so much weight and I gain is a mistery. Just the way it is. I am not going to beat myself up over it. It is something I will have to keep an eye on. Hope you all are doing well and hope you're reaching your goals. Keep punching....ACHOOOOO! excuse me. Take care....Phil and Glenda. March 05 Yo Adrian we did it!The spell is broken and the debt of over indulging is paid in full. I lost 5 pounds this week and Glenda lost 1. We are back and fighting better than ever.
We were a little nervous before the weigh in but after we did the deed we were content with the results. Glenda admits she didn't exercise as much as she should
have this past week and said she plans on doing better. I hit it pretty hard and it shows. I am so happy with the outcome. We can contribute a lot of our weight loss due to us incorporating walking in the park on Saturdays and Sundays every weekend. Look what we can do! Take care and keep punching. Yahoooooo! March 04 Tomorrows weigh inWe are keeping our fingers crossed about tomorrows weigh in. I think I lost some weight but since last weekends devistating results I can't be sure of anything.
Glenda is also nervous about tomorrow. But one thing is for sure, tonight Glenda and I will be watching the Biggest Loser baby! I wonder what will happen next. Blog ya tomorrow. Keep punching till then. Phil and Glenda. February 27 Never againI have two words for this weeks weigh in. OLIVE GARDEN! Oh and one other word OUCH! We failed bad, real bad. Glenda gained 4 pounds and I broke even on my weight. Surprisingly Glenda said she isn't going to let this get her down. She has come a long way. She and I are building character from this experience. Oh the lessons we are learning. We thought if we splurged a little it could be made up with a little more exercise. WRONG! Don't try it. Don't stray the price is too big to pay.
Down but not out. Phil and Glenda. February 20 Week Six weigh inWe did pretty well for our sixth week. Glenda lost 4 lbs and I actually lost 3 pounds. Glenda is so excited and is amazed at her loss of weight. I haven't seen her this excited in years when it comes to her losing weight. She has such a great outlook on life and has actually been trying on some clothes in the closet that she never thought she would fit into again. Not only is she fitting into them they are too big for her now. WOW!
We are both teatering on the edge of a new scale of weight loss. Glenda is now at 250 lbs and I am at 280 lbs. That is a total weight loss for Glenda of 13 lbs and for me 19 lbs. At the next weeks weigh in Glenda will say goodbye to the 50's and hello 40's. I will see the 80's no more and welcome in the 70's with open arms.We are having fun and learning so much. We hope everyone else is doing well and heading in the direction of reaching their goals. Keep punching and good luck to you all. Phil and Glenda February 18 Our trip to Las VegasWeeeeeeeee'reeeeeeee back. Hi everyone. We dicided to go to Vegas last week. It was very nice to get away from work. Took in a show and played the slots.Although we had our struggles with food we kept it together and only spoiled ourselves once or twice. Either way with all the walking we did going from casino to casino we burned a lot of calories. We took the monorail from one end of the strip to the other and still ended up walking forever. Our legs were killing us but we forged ahead. With Glenda not being able to walk very good at home I was surprised to see her getting around as well as she did. Must be a change in weather, although you couldn't tell due to the extreme frigid weather and high winds we experienced when we were there. Must have been a "dry" frigidity.
As far as this weeks weigh in,it's anyones guess. We're hoping for big numbers but we shall see. Glenda is confident she will do well, but as for me I caught a bug and have a sore throat. I hate this. It sure makes it tough to exercise when you don't feel good.
I ended up eating a little more than I should have when I got home while I stayed in the house Saturday and Sunday. Glenda on the other hand worked her behind off on the treadmill. Next weigh in is on Wednesday morning. See you then. Achoooooooooooo! Excuse me. February 10 Discovering something newHey guys. I found out something that I need to pass on to you. As you know I didn't do so well this last weigh in. I gained one pound. I thought I was doing the right thing with what I was eating. Well come to find out the wheat bread that I have been eating in the morning and in the evening was very low in fiber. I read up on fiber and found that it plays a very important role in losing weight. I found out that you must eat foods with at least 3 grams of fiber and no less. When looking for wheat bread dont judge a book by it's cover. It may say whole wheat and look like whole wheat but read the ingredients. If it doesn't list wheat as its number one ingredient be very careful. Also look at its fiber content. High fiber is what you want. I just changed my Seven Grain bread that has 2 grams of fiber for Double Fiber Whole Wheat bread that has 6 grams of fiber. I also bought Raison Bran cereal that has 6 grams of fiber per serving. I think I am on to something. I will let you know. Take care and keep punching. February 06 This is week fourGood morning. Wellllllllllllll. We had our weigh in this morning. We have good news and bad news. The good news is, Glenda lost one pound.
The bad news is, I gained one pound. I guess I got a little froggy. I took it for granted that I would lose consistantly the same amount or near same
amount I did last week. I will work that much harder to lose and I am learning something about me every week. This is an entirely new week with more
lessons to learn.
I am proud of Glenda and was happy to see the loss for her. She needed this encouragement.
Have a great week ahead and good luck. Keep your chin up and keep smiling.
February 04 What do you think about our newly arranged space?Hello. Well I finally got the hang of this space of ours. As you can tell I am constantly rearranging things. I decided that the space now better reflects who we are.
Our granddaughter Lexy decided she wanted to be part of the"scene" so she asked if she could hold up the Million Pound Match Up sign. Of course I said yes.
You would too if she looked at you with those beautiful blue eyes of hers. We hope you enjoy the space.
As for the Biggest Loser Couples. Well it is looking pretty interesting as usual. We sure do enjoy that show.
Can't wait for the weigh in on Tuesday. We are looking for something good. Like minus signs on our scale. Take care for now and chat with you later guys.
Phil and Glenda.........Oh yes.....KEEP SMILING! January 31 Week threeGood morning everyone. Well the weigh in was bitter sweet. I lost 6 pounds but Glenda didn't lose anything. I feel terrible for her. She was in total
shock and couldn't believe what she saw. She re-weighed herself three times just to make sure. I love Glenda so much so to see her efforts not
giving her the results she expected broke my heart. I was planning on making a video blog this week but my hearts not in it. I know from experience
that if Glenda doesn't see results consistantly nomatter how slight they may be she will get discouraged. All I can do is assure her that things will
turn around.
She did however have a chance to think things over and realized she needs to make an adjustment in the way she is exercising. After seeing the
results I produced after stepping up my routine she now knows that she too needs to increase her efforts. I am so glad she is still on board with the
program. We both need this change in our lives to become the people we deserve to be.
I don't want you too think we are out of the competition though. You wait and see. Next week we will produce bigger numbers. We as a team may have
gotten an upper cut but the fight 'aint' over yet! I didn't hear a bell did you? Keep punching and keep smiling.
January 29 Hurray fo Tuesday!Well here we are again. Man the weeks are flying by. Glenda and I are doing great and looking forward to the
show. I wonder what they're going to do next, sounds interesting.
We are expecting some big results for our weigh in tomorrow morning. I think I lost at least 7 more pounds. Glenda
isn't quite as sure but thinks she is going to be happy with the weigh in.
We are really enjoying the meals we've been choosing from the Biggest Loser Cookbook. You should check them out.
You can click on our favorite books and it will take you right to the site.
I hope everything is going great for all of you and always remember to keep smiling.
Much better. January 24 Off to a better startI don't know about some of you guys but my motivation for exercising just isn't there at times.
I mean I want to get in shape and all but some times it's hard getting my head into it.
I figured there had to be something besides the radio and cd's to listen to and then I remembered that Glenda
bought me a portable dvd player. Oh man. I hooked it up and slipped in a Rocky dvd and I went to town.
I actually exercised an additional 15 minutes longer because I was distracted. Before I realized it my workout was over.
Works for me.
Have a great day and have fun.
January 23 The morning afterHi everyone. Well Glenda and I weighed in last night and the results are exciting. Glenda lost 4 more pounds and I lost 3. They're not
huge numbers but we are encouraged by the loss. One step at a time. Just wanted to wish you all a great day and keep in touch. We'd
love to hear from you. Take care. January 22 Last chance workout.Hello everyone. Happy day! It is our weigh in day and I am looking for some big losses today. The other thing that makes
this a happy day is the fact that the Biggest Loser is on tonight. Which we always look forward to watching and never miss.
Hope your day is filled with success. Keep smiling. January 21 Glenda's Thoughts~~Just a short note on how much we love the recipes in the Biggest Loser book we have. So many delicious
and easy to prepare meals and surprisingly very filling. I'm very hopeful that eating right and keeping track
of our calories will show on our weigh in day. Our fight against Obesity.YO! How's everyone doing? As you can tell we are heading in an entirely different direction as far as the way our space looks.
We've decided to go with a Rocky theme. This is very fitting since I am, no pun intended, a huge fan. I thought it would be cool to
change it up a bit and think outside the box. A lot of people are telling their stories in the "usual way" and us being different
than the norm wanted to put a little twist on our story making it more interesting to everyone that visits our site. It's still our story but
presented differently.Keep checking us out because I will be inserting more and more photos of our training with Mick in our preperation
to "KNOCK OUT" our opponent and still reigning Heavy Weight Champion....Obesity.
Good luck and keep punching!
We're heading into round two and we are stronger than ever, Ding!Ding! January 18 What a difference a week makesGood morning everyone.
Glenda and I are sure looking forward to the weekend. Not much planned but it's the weekend and that's good enough for us.
Well, I knew the time would come when I would have to face my first challenge. Next Tuesday January the 22nd the job site
I am working on is throwing a pizza party for all us workers. I have to tell you guys something pizza is my favorite.....I LOVE PIZZA.
This is going to be a challenge but I am so focused and determined to beat this weight issue once and for all. As Forrest Gump says..
"and that's all I'm going to say about that."
It won't be a problem. I bring donuts to our monthly construction meeting and where I used to eat three donuts in a sitting, the thought
of all those calories makes me sick.
Ever since we started counting calories it has really changed the way we look at things. Since I consider myself an honest person
I don't sneak food anymore because I don't want to log my calories in our daily calorie book. I have to admit, even though it isn't
labor intensive do so I just don't want to be bothered with it.
So how you guys doing? Hope you're winning the battle and enjoying this experience as much as we are. It has really opened our
eyes and given us the boost we needed to be accountable.
Until next time America.
