Glenda and I are going on our tenth year of marriage this April although we've been together for more then twenty.
We have two wonderful Grandchildren named Alexya and Austin whom we enjoy spending time with. They are the light of our lives and a blessing to us both.Beautiful blessings. They are the biggest reason we have for wanting our lives back and losing all this excess weight we've gained. We love their hugs and kisses.
Since we live away from the city and out in the country, Glenda and I spend most of our time at home where we enjoy watching television and DVD movies together.
We especially like watching the Biggest Loser and Extreme Makeover. These two shows really tug at the heart strings. We're romantics what can we say.
When we heard about the Million Pound Match Up we jumped at the opportunity. Not very high mind you but jumped never the less.We are committed to losing weight no matter how long it takes. Icing on the cake would be winning this contest.See you at the finish line.

Glenda and Phil's Story ......in three hundred words or less.

My wife Glenda and I have been fans of The Biggest Loser since the very first show

We can relate to the struggles the contestants go through because we too are battling obesity.
Now that we are older, I being 45 and Glenda 50, that battle is even tougher than before. This time it's a battle we refuse to lose.
Glenda' starting weight is 263 lbs and her goal weight is 150. My starting weight is 299 lbs and my goal weight is 190.
We are truely optimistic that these goals are obtainable but realize we must be creative in our approach to the way
we exercise. For the past decade Glenda has been dealing with the excruciating pain that comes with having Rheumatoid
Arthritis and she is also diabetic. I have a bulged disc in my lower back along with arthritis in both my hands from working many
years in the construction industry.
After careful consideration we came up with an exercise program that we feel will benifit us and give us the results we
are looking for. It incorporates moderate weight training as well as cardio which invloves riding the stationary bike three days a week.
After we exercise we show each other support by giving each other high fives and verbally acknowledging each others accomplishments.
As for preparing our meals we've decided to go straight to the experts and follow the guidelines set forth in the Biggest Loser
Cookbook. Who better to direct us in healthy food choices?
Although we need to overcome our physical limitations to be successful in the pursuit of our goals, we hope by our example that
we can inspire others to do the same and ultimately win the Million Pound Match Up.

You two are doing an awesome.  One thing about being sick is you would think this is the time you would lose a ton of  weight, but the body does not work that way.  It is not surprising you gained or stayed the same.  Take care of yourselves and we hope you are feeling better!!!!  Your looks GREAT!!!

Going from bad to worse

I sometimes feel we're on the Titanic. Just when you think everything is going fine here comes that ice burg. As you can tell by the date of this entry I didn't jump right to it to let you know where we stood as far as our weight went. Here it is. I gained one pound and Glenda two. Glenda was shocked but not surprised if that makes any sense. She realizes she didn't do everything she could and expected to brake even on her weight. I expected to brake even and gained one. Not terrible but still a pound gained is a pound gained. All we can say is we are only human. We just need to try harder. Take care. Phil and Glenda.Angry

Oh Oh

Hello everyone. Glenda and I had too much Easter cheer. We had too much food for Easter dinner and then went back for seconds. So the tally for our sinful ways goes as is. Glenda gained two pounds and I barely broke even. My current weight remains 270lbs and Glenda jumped back into the 50's. She currently weighs 250lbs. We are kinda bumbed but aren't giving up. We just lost our focus. Tomorrow is another day. Good luck to you all and we hope you're doing well. Take care Phil and Glenda.Sad

Phils on FIRE!

Hey guys. I don't know what the heck is going on but look what is happening now. I lost 6 pounds this weigh in and Glenda unfortunately gained 2.
She is a little bumbed but not overly so. She is taking it like it's a little bump on the road to good health. That's my girl. Me I feel so great and I am looking forward to losing more and more. Glenda and I can see the results and it is fun for us. Our clothes are getting too big. We actually started wearing clothes we never thought we could get into. They're from the seventies but hey we still look groovey man. Just joking. Anyway we are over the worse part of our colds and getting stronger every day. Hope you all are in good health and thanks so much for your continuing support and encouraging words. Take care. Phil and Glenda.
Keep punching away at the pounds. Baring teethWink

Glenda is on FIRE!

I am so proud of Glenda. This week she scored a record seven pound loss. WOW! She was so happy she was full of excitement. Me well not so good. I don't know what happened but I gained one pound. Glenda and I have both been battling this darn flue bug again for the second time. It wont let go of its hold on us. How she lost so much weight and I gain is a mistery. Just the way it is. I am not going to beat myself up over it. It is something I will have to keep an eye on. Hope you all are doing well and hope you're reaching your goals. Keep punching....ACHOOOOO! excuse me. Take care....Phil and Glenda.Embarrassed

Yo Adrian we did it!

The spell is broken and the debt of over indulging is paid in full. I lost 5 pounds this week and Glenda lost 1. We are back and fighting better than ever.
We were a little nervous before the weigh in but after we did the deed we were content with the results. Glenda admits she didn't exercise as much as she should
have this past week and said she plans on doing better. I hit it pretty hard and it shows. I am so happy with the outcome. We can contribute a lot of our weight loss due to us incorporating walking in the park on Saturdays and Sundays every weekend. Look what we can do! Take care and keep punching. Yahoooooo!
